My West Highland Terrier barks a lot at the slightest of noises. The worst time is Bonfire Night and New Year's Eve when the fireworks let rip for weeks on end. Her barking becomes intolerable. She barked so much last November that she went hoarse. I did have an idea to tie a headscarf around her head and for a while it worked, but it would come off too often. This little dog hood is exactly what I've been needing for her. It covers her ears completely and though it does not block out noise, it does calm her down. Admittedly, I haven't tried against fireworks yet, because thankfully it's not that time of year. However, it does stop the incessant barking at no particular thing when she's let out into the garden. She becomes more sedate and quiet when she's wearing it.It was perhaps a little smaller than I was expecting after looking at the images in the description. They make it look as though there's a lot of spare fabric over the brow and neck, but when I put the hoodie on my dog it didn't seem so generous. It does cover her head, and with her ears gently bent to the front it looks comfortable. I measured carefully and she was bang in the middle of a size small. It comes up a little small on her I think, though it's not strangling her and it's stretchy fabric. I probably would have sized up to a medium for her, even though the description tells you to size down! The fabric is super soft and it's fastened by very strong Velcro under the neck. She cannot shake it off which is good. I like it and I think it's going to be great for after bath times, coming in from the rain, as it will work with the bath robe she has. It's cute and it's calming, which is precisely what I'd hoped for.

My westie girl for the last few years has suffered whenever there's fireworks, and in the last 2 years, we've managed to calm her down with this special wrap we saw online, but her ears still very attentive to any noise. When I saw this calming hoodie, I thought lets give it ago. She's not bothered with clothing - in fact, she loves a jumper and coat, so I knew this wouldn't bother her.The hoodie is made of really nice and soft material. It seems easy to wash it too. I particularly appreciate the velcro straps to keep the hoodie in place. I got a size small, and it fits her snuggly - not tight! It does not looking anything like the image of the product, where there's lots of material around their head, on my westie, its almost like a head band, but it does cover her ears nicely and she seems comfortable with it. Haven't had the chance to trial it during a firework, but I'm sure this will be much better than what we use to do with a scarf. This will also the a good option is your dog is anxious with city noises - buses, cars, bikes, etc. - this could be a good alternative than the hard earmuffs we see.

I got this for when there are loud noises such as fireworks of which there are none currently to test the effect. The snood is made of a very soft lovely material. It is easy to put on and secure. Our dog wasn't impressed with it and just wanted to get it off, but the fit was good. I think the impact against noise will be quite minimal, but may take edge off I thought it expensive for what it is.
