It not the same quality as a Hoya or other name brand filter but it is a good beginner filter if you're just starting IR photography.

I haven't had a chance to do a full test of this filter. I got this to experiment a bit with a non-IR converted camera. My first impression is that it doesn't thread on to my lens well at all. It's not smooth in the least. When threaded on, there seems to be a gap on one side and not the other, just not even. I attempted this several times and could not get it to go on well. I decided that it was probably sufficient, but regardless of the filter, one of the most important aspects is how well it attaches to the lens.I did a few frames to try it out. The resulting image has a distinctly magenta/purple cast to it and would therefore lend itself to black and white conversions. This is to be expected, of course, so not an issue. Still need some more experimenting to see how much compensation is needed for the extreme darkness of the filter.I will try again, however the poor quality of the threads makes me unwilling to get more filters from this brand.

I do not have a converted camera for infra red, but I decided to try it out anyway.I have a few extra mirrorless cameras laying around so I will probably do it at some point.Either way I wanted to experiment with this filter, and without conversion it is doable, but difficult.Not the filters fault in any way.The filter is well built and maintains a consistent color throughout all of the images I took with it. A 950nm is the darkest of all the infra reds commonly in use today, so expect to use a tripod or boost exposure quite a bit.But it's a good filter in my opinion. On bright days, it will be useful for some artful endeavors.Recommended.

I tested this filter with a visible and near-IR spectrometer under direct sunlight, a 630nm red flashlight, and a 940nm infrared flashlight.The filter blocked the vast majority of visible light. At 780nm, the limit of my spectrometer, it looked like it transmitted less than 1% of the incident light, about 7 stops of darkening.It provided at least 10 stops of darkening with the 630nm flashlight (reading without filter was over 1000 W/m^2; with the filter, it was 0).It dropped the intensity of the 940nm flashlight by about 50% (one stop).All this is consistent with the expected performance of a standard 950nm filter; cutoffs are generally not knife-sharp.The unit I received has a small blemish on the front surface. It may just be a droplet that landed there during production, but I'm a bit afraid that there might be actual damage to the surface. I haven't tried to clean it, and since it's only about a millimeter across, I don't think it'll be a problem.

I ordered this ICE IR Slim Filter Infrared Infrared 950HB 950nm 950 Optical Glass (82mm) to use with my IR-converted Fuji GFX50r.I had my GFX converted to 590nm infrared. That bandwidth is nice for false color work, but it doesn't produce the types of black and white images that most of us associate with infrared photographs. I own a 720nm filter, but I wanted to try one that's truly deep infrared.The filter itself seems well constructed. I screwed it onto a lens that takes an 82mm filter and it screwed on and off easily without binding. I plan to use this mostly with my Fuji GF 45mm lens which takes a 62mm filter, so I then attached this filter to a step up ring (62-82). Again, it screwed on and off smoothly. I went outside before the sun disappeared and took some shots.The images produced by this filter are quite striking. Foliage is a bright white. There are, unfortunately, no clouds today, so I wasn't able to see how clouds render with this filter. I did notice significant flare with this filter. That is partially because I can't attach a hood to my lens when this filter is on and because the filter is pushed out quite far from the surface of the lens by the step up ring. I did notice, however, that the listing says that there is no coating on this filter.
