I tried everything to make this work. Sometimes it seemed to work, and others very frustrating. Didn't work with all brands of primers. Finally purchased the PRIMAFILL from Double Alpha.Biz. Same price, very high quality, and works flawlessly.UPDATE: I have been using the PRIMAFILL now, and it is amazing!! Fills tubes in around 10 seconds, no more upside down primers. Works on all brands primers I have tried.

I thought this product would get better reviews. I just ordered my second one. The first one didn’t break, I made a move and can’t find it now. It’s a lot easier than flipping primers over by hand and loading them in the tube yourself.

I read a number of reviews, and watched some videos showing the functionality of this tool. After nearly 8 months, and running through the reviews and videos again, I decided to give it a try. I found a nicely discounted one that must have been ordered and returned, so I went that route to cut the price a bit. Checking everything out carefully, I determined that the unit had never been used, perhaps the first buyer couldn’t get it to work. The minor assembly directions were pretty clear and easily completed. I had the unit assembled and batteries installed in short order, and then proceeded to test it out. First, not even Hornady explains that the filler tubes will not fit the Hornady Lock and Load Classic single stage auto-prime fixture. The tubes are just a fraction larger than the auto-prime pickup tubes. Second, there is a bit of a learning curve. As with numerous reviewers, I jammed up the tube the first couple of times I tried. On my 3rd attempt I realized that the primers will vibrate upwards towards the hole in the primer tray, eliminating any need to tilt the tray. Once I filled my first tube I understood the operation of the tool, and subsequent uses went without issue.Having a full tube of primers that will not fit my press serves no purpose, so I decided to try a small piece of Shrink tubing to connect the filler tube with my primer pickup tube. My first attempt was a mess, as I came to understand that dropping 100 primers from a primer filler tube into a 65 capacity primer pick up tube will leave you with 35 (soon to be 32) primers all over the bench and floor. No, 100 does not go into 65 equally. Thankfully, I only did the once. Since primers come in sleeves of 100, it’s quite easy to place primers in increments of 10 into the loading tray. I went with 50 at a time, since I have both 100 and 50 count ammo boxes. My process is to vibrate 50 primers into the filler tube, remove the tube from the 1911 Auto Primer tool, connect my Auto-Prime pickup tube to the filler tube with the short length of shrink tubing, then invert the filler tube, transferring the primers, now facing cup down into the pickup tube, stick a cotter pin into the pickup tube, then mount the tube to the press and start priming.See the attached picture for visual clarification.

As any reloader knows, loading primers by push and pickup is a time consuming task. Also to mention it can make the hands ache after 1,000 rounds of ammo or so through the progressive press... I looked at this item and the Frankfort Arsenal. The reviews, albeit not great, seemed better for the Hornady product. While this item is not 'perfect' it is rather user friendly when one follows the directions. It loads a 100 rounds of primers in the included tubes in under a minute in a very easy manner. Every now and again a primer gets tipped sideways in the funnel, but a few taps and it lines up and falls into the tube correctly. The trick is not pushing all of the primers towards the funnel at once. Gradually line them up and dump them towards the tube funnel.Once I got the hang of this item, loading primer tubes is easy and a lot more relaxing. The only negatives so far is that the primer tubes are tough to push into and out of the device, but I am sure with time and wear that will loosen up. The tray top is a little snug, so some primers get stuck in the middle of the tray - a couple slight taps and they fall into place.Overall, I am happy that I purchased this item. It is a real timesaver. I would estimate it saves me 2-4 minutes with each primer tube loading. The biggest benefit is the easy of loading tubes verses the old fashioned way.
