First off my standard method of brewing coffee is a Moka Pot, usually made by Bialetti; the inventors of said device. I've carried moka pots deep into the wilderness to satisfy my craving for this robust brew. The GSI MiniEspresso maker is based on a moka pot but saves weight and space by brewing directly into a mug rather than an upper pot. Seems like a win. Unfortunately while stealing the general design they screwed up the ratio of water to coffee. My Bialetti that holds 8oz of water uses the exact same coffee basket that the 12oz GSI uses- 50% more water same amount of coffee = lousy brew. Also the mug platform is flimsy and fragile, held on only by the plastic/silicone sleeve over the tube. Not to mention that the base of the pot is too narrow to fit two of my three MSR stoves. So Sad. More money wasted searching for the perfect camp coffee

Der Espresso wird mit dieser Maschine wirklich äußerst kräftig, da man für diese Menge Wasser doch ca. 28 g etwas gröber gemahlenen Kaffee verwendet. Was vielleicht etwas nachteilig ist, dass man nach der Kaffeezubereitung den Ofen reinigen muss, da dann doch ziemlich spritzt. Ich verwende dazu nicht das Originalhäferl, sondern nehme ein 0,5 l Blechhäferl und halte es etwas schräg, damit wird dann der Ofen vielleicht etwas weniger angespritzt. Was ich noch erwähnen möchte, dass man sehr genau auf die Wassertemperatur achten sollte. Das Wasser sollte nicht zu viel kochen. Man kann die Temperatur schon zurück nehmen, wenn spätestens der Kaffee zum Herausfließen beginnt. Die Restwärme genügt (spreche jetzt von einem Ceranfeld), um das gesamte Wasser zum Aufsteigen zu bringen. Ich habe schon das Gefühl heraus, dass ich es höre, wenn das Wasser unmittelbar vor dem Aufsteigen ist. Dann drehe ich den Ofen bereits ab. Die Restwärme reicht dann völlig aus. Wie gesagt, etwas Gefühl ist nicht schlecht, da sie nicht ganz einfach zu bedienen ist. Ein Weggehen während der Kaffeezubereitung ist auch nicht unbedingt ratsam. Man sollte da einfach dabei bleiben. Ein Vollautomat ist da wahrscheinlich etwas praktischer.

Great quality, better than expected based on other reviews I'd read for this product. Performs as expected with easy to follow instructions included. I use this espresso maker on a twig stove when camping. I saw this product used by YouTube sensation Doug Linker. Makes a great strong cup of coffee! The carry case is high quality too as is the stainless steel thermo cup. I'm very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend it to others.
