I bought them to grow my pepper plant. These sponges.Although they are a bit small still i like them. The growing sponges hold secure plants. They are eco-friendly, function perfectly and can be reused.

PACKAGING: Clear, press seal bag with a marketing label on the front.PRODUCT: Grow sponges x 50.FUNCTION: Inside the re-sealable press-seal bag the sponges are sealed in a clear plastic bag. The sponges are indeed, little cone sponges and each cone has a hole in the center where you drop the seed in. You also get a guidance sheet showing you how to grow seeds in four easy steps.There is no guidance that shows what the cones are made from, other than they are 100% biodegradable. Branded versions, similar to these state their grow sponges are made from biological peat, or coco coir, or peat moss. If this is biodegradable I wonder why the material is not shown?Since I do not own a hydroponic growing system yet, I have placed the cones inside a seed tray. Once soaked in water, the cones increase in size and support one another. It is too early to see any results yet.At the time of this review (January 2025) the 50 grow sponges were £14.99. That is about 30 pence per pod.

We have been growing hydroponically for a couple of years, so always eager to get hold of the growing medium. These are fine, and fits the cells, but my concern is they do not say what they are made from. They just say sponges. It is important to me that I use a natural growing medium such as coir , but I am failing to get reassurance from this product. If I know them to be natural then they get five stars, but as I am unsure I am giving them three.

I use these in my hydroponic machine, growing lettuce for my tortoise.They are slightly smaller than my normal brand but they do grow in size a little once wet. They fit in the plastic hydroponics casing fine they are just a little short.There is no information about what they are made from, this maybe important to some. It does say biodegradable but no info.I haven't started them properly yet as the tortoise is hybernating at the moment but will start in march and within 2 weeks will have my first lot of lettuce ready.Hydroponic growing is really easy to do, I've only ever used it to grow vegetables but I may give plants a try this year too.
