Expensive, but solid construction, does the job. Don't sweat using the template, it is horrid. Breathe, line pick the placement that is most visually pleasing to you on the case and then drill. Would recommend mounting while the topbox is attached to the motorcycle.

ok, bin auch zwei Winter damit durchgefahren. Sah aber am Anfang aus wie pulverbeschichtet. Jetzt rostet das ganze Teil seit ca 1 Jahr. Schade. Häte für 54 Euro mehr erwartet

Okay, so the instructions left a little to be desired, particularly in regards to placement of the rack on the case. Nevertheless, the rack's design permits some flexibility there. And it's a quality rack in terms of aesthetics and functionality. I like it.

I ordered this rack in the hope I could fit it to my old Givi top box. It's not the model this rack is designed for. When I first tried it against the top of the top box, (Good sentence that) it rocked on the surface. I then tried it on my work bench. It rocked there too.I didn't want to bolt it to the top box like this as it could distort the lid and cause it to leak in the rain. (Not nice if you've got your sleeping bag in there or the company laptop.) So I put it on the edge of me bench and tried to straighten it by the gentle application of my 19 stone frame. Nothin' not even a creak. So I put it on the floor and jumped on it. I would like to say I do not recommend this course of action as it may contravene health and safety law. Any way I got up and decided to apply my brain instead of my brawn. I have less of this so it took a little longer. I strapped it to my work mate with some ratchet straps with one corner hanging over the edge. The high corner of course, then using another strap and a three foot crow bar hooked under the work mate I managed to bend the thing just enough to make it stand level on a flat surface. Honestly you could park a car on this rack and not bend it. However the weight of even a small car could cause serious handling problems for most motorcycles, and I don't recommend it.Fitting the now straight rack to the lid was easy but took some time to make sure it was in the middle and correctly lined up. I taped the template to the lid and then sat the rack on the template. This was to check the template works with the curvature of my box. It worked. They say you should measure twice and cut once. They are of course wrong. You should measure many times before drilling holes in expensive shiny things, I've fitted sunroofs in brand new cars and I have to say they look awful if they aint in the middle of the roof. So once you think you've got the template in the right place go and make a cup of tea and then check it again. I then drilled the holes starting with a small bit first and then the correct size drill. The instructions recommend 6.5 mm I didn't have one so used a 7mm followed by gentle application of a counter sink bit to clean up the burrs. It fits great and it's really useful for strapping things to it. Did I mention that it's strong?
