This is such a gorgeous decorative piece. I love the rain gauge, and though it doesn't rain a lot where I live, it has rained a few times and each time I've checked what the rain measures it is verified by the local news, so I'd call it accurate. The thermometer is about ten degrees hotter than it actually is, so be aware of that. However, the design is gorgeous. I could not ask for a more beautiful rain gauge and it looks great in my flower bed. The perfect addition to my garden.

This rain gauge is a practical addition to any garden - vegetable or perennial. With a quick glance you'll know if you need to drag out your hose after last night's less than adequate rain, or settle into your adirondack chair and watch butterflies because the beds are good and soaked!A nice surprise with this gauge is that the glass tube is well made, pretty thick and marked with easy to read numbers. The dragonfly is made of solid metal, not stamped out of a sheet of tin.The additional thermometer fits nicely into the overall design and read accurately right out of the box. A reviewer noted that generally, thermometers are placed out of direct sun (presumably under a tree or in shade), and that would affect the amount of rain collected.That noted, this nice accent piece is VERY EASY TO MOVE and before a storm moves in, could quickly be placed where it could collect & measure rainfall, then put back where it could accurately measure the temperature until the next storm was expected if you want to use both instruments accurately - but the heavy glass rain gauge is definitely the star of this show!If I had to improve anything, it would be to thicken the diameter of the skinny screw together post - only because these posts tend to unscrew as wind and weather affect them, and they are fairly easy to break off at the threads - a problem I've had with weather vanes and wind spinners. If you're handy, go to the local hardware store and see if they have slightly wider metal or plastic tube you can place the original post inside of for better protection!

One of those items I didn't know I needed until I saw it. Super glad I found it, thrilled with its appearance. Easy to assemble and install. It will be both visually appealing and utilitarian. So handy to have the info of temp & rainfall amount the old fashioned way. I'm such a fan of dragonflies. Pretty decent quality for the price. No hesitation to recommend buying it for yourself or a gardening loved one.*edited to lower rating & add picture* after just a week or so, it's already started rusting! :( will have to spray paint it with Rustoleum or something.

The rain gauge is beautiful! I really needed one for my vegetable garden, so I was happy to find such a pretty one instead of the big plastic kind I have always had. The metal is nice and heavy and while I appreciate the thermometer, I have my doubts about its longevity. It is open on the back and looks unfinished. Overall, it is very nice and reasonably priced considering the quality.
