This unit allows you to charge a spare battery, purchased separately, outside your camera, while using one inside your camera. The charger you get here consists of a cradle to hold the battery, and a mini USB wall adapter which plugs into the base of the cradle. (It's exactly the same wall charger as the one that came with your Flir Ex IR thermo imaging camera, including an assortment of plug adapters for foreign electrical outlets.) Having the extra wall charger could be handy should you have two depleted batteries that need charging at the same time. You could charge one in the camera while charging the other in the cradle at the same time. The cradle has a blue LED on the base that blinks while your lithium cell charges and turns steady blue when finished. The charging time in the cradle is the same as in the camera, about 2 hours for a fully depleted battery.If you own an E4, E5, E6 there is an empty compartment for the cradle in the hard carry case that came with your camera along with a space for the spare battery. (The E8 already comes with the cradle and spare battery).
