this latch lock can be locked from the inside with the same key, i think if I needed to change the tumbler i would use the key for the new tumbler but have to keep the original key for the inside lock. I had the same lock before but the key was not turning very well and sticking so i bought a new lock arrived same day. The old lock lasted years i would recommend it for the doble lock security from the inside especially.

I installed this lock and it worked fine for a couple of months. Came home one day and was unable to open front door as lock had jammed. This has happened twice and necessitated me climbing over a neighbours fence to gain access to the house via the back door. The lock is supposed to have a 10 year guarantee but unable to find any way to replace this lock via Amazon. You just go round and round in customer service being told it’s too late to return the item and there appears to be no other recourse to solve this issue. Amazon makes it nigh on near impossible to contact anyone or report a problem with an item after the return period has closed. Have had to buy another lock (not from amazon) to replace the defective I received from Amazon.

I have yet to actually fit the lock, but it appears to be very tough and if the features list is correct then it will be ideal.However I've knocked off a star because although the product description states that it is part of the package, there are no fitting instructions or fitting template. This shouldn't be a major problem because the instructions can be picked up on the internet, although those instructions state they are for the 1831 model whereas this is the 1931. I assume the former is the 40mm backset lock, but the template I printed out also includes sizes for the 60mm lock and the dimensions appear to fit this lock. Any problems and I'll edit this review.UPDATE: Lock is fitted, although I had an issue with one of the four 'internal' bolts. The receiving female end was missing the internal thread required to secure the bolt. The supplier assured me that missing the one bolt would not affect the security of the lock, but did offer to replace it. I chose to leave it and the installed lock does seem very solid.The lock works well but very soon became extremely stiff (as other reviewers have mentioned). Closing the door without using the lever inside or the key outside required a great deal of force which does worry me that the integrity of the door frame could be compromised. However I have since bought some graphite lubricant, and used it liberally wherever there was a gap that I could squirt it in (mainly the keyhole and by turning the key so that the bolt moves inside the lock). This was not immediately successful, although over time and regular use of the lock, the lubricant does now appear to have been spread around to where it's needed and the lock now operates as I believe it should. I have since mentioned this to a local door fitter, and he tells me that he believes ERA do not lubricate the locks sufficiently (if at all) when they're manufactured which would explain why I, and from the reviews many others, have had difficulties with shutting the door without using the key to pull back the bolt.
