It worked very well. I used a 1/2" socket. There was a little muscle involved at the end but it came to an abrupt stop and I cranked no more. Stopped leaking. I wiped the area with paint thinner and put gasket sealer around it. Filled it back up with oil....no leaks! All good. Thanks Dorman

This item is advertised as oversized. It is in fact DOUBLE oversized and I did not find this out until too late. Tried to put into the oil pan of my ‘69 Mustang and it broke the thread plate on inside of pan. Pretty upset when I put calipers on the plug after the fact and find that it is truly 9-16” and double oversized. I did not want this nor thought I was buying it from the ad. Very peeved that the editors of the description cannot do a better job of stating probably the most important fact about the entire plug. Come on. Do better.

Purchased this for my 1990 Jeep. Oil plug threads were beat up on the pan and the plug threads worn out. Previous owner used Teflon pipe tape to hold it in :( This oversized plug worked great. Previous reviews mentioned a leak using the products supplied gasket. I tossed it and used a metal crush washer. No leaks and I'm driving down the road again. Happy!
