This product was almost expired when I got it, so I only got one use out of it. Very disappointing.

I have fish aquariums that I test for Ph with a bottle and strips that look just like this. I have never seen a plant Ph like this one before. So, this is my first time. I have a troubled plant that seems to be having problems all the time and I can't figure out what is going on with it. I thought I would test its Ph once again with a different method. Since, I think its Ph is too Alkaline because of a plant meter I used saying so. I wanted to see if this matches what that meter says or perhaps gives me another reading. But how accurate is it and which one is more accurate? The first thing I noticed besides it looking just like my aquarium Ph tester strips was the instructions or lack thereof instructions. On the bottle, it says to take some soil and put it in with water. But it doesn't say how much soil or how much water. There was no manual in the box the bottle was in. So, I had to go back to the listing page and see if there was anything there. And there was thank goodness. So, on the listing it says to take 8 tablespoons of soil and 8 tablespoons of water and mix together. In my opinion, that is a bit much. If you are wanting to do a Ph, check on a small plant that doesn't have much soil, you won't be able to according to the instructions. And it doesn't come with anything to put the soil and water in so you will have to find something. After mixing you wait 30 minutes and then dip one of the test strips into the mix for 3 seconds. This part of the instructions is on the bottle as well. Then take it out and hold horizontally for one minute or 60 seconds. Then you can compare the color that is on the testing strip to the colored boxes on the side of the bottle. In my opinion, it is easier to just use a plant meter for ph. They usually come with more things to test as well. And they both cost nearly the same. The meter might be a little more depending on what type you get. And you don't have to mix anything or wait with a meter. And I didn't like how I had to go to the listing to find out how much soil and water to mix. And I have no way of knowing which one is more accurate although they were close.

I tested my raised beds and found out that I had to add 6lbs of lime to each bed to bring them into range for a successful spring planting. The lime will soak in over the winter and I will test again in the spring to make sure everything is still balanced.

These PH test strips for soil seem to be accurate. They are definitely easy to use, but make sure you read the directions first! Measure the soil and water and mix. Wait 30 mins and then dip to test. Really like that they come in a waterproof bottle with the legend on the side. With 150 strips included, these are a really good deal.

I don't have a standardized electronic pH meter to compare this to but it appears to be fairly accurate compared to readings from spa water testing strips that I have. The main reason for me to use these test strips is to identify pH levels for my hydrangea plants. The instructions are straightforward and easy to follow. I won't know the full extent of accuracy until I see how well my blueberry harvest is next season as well as what color my hydrangeas are (red or blue depending on the pH).
