Excellent piece of gear to keep on hand! I purchased mine for use in the slot canyons and big walls in Utah. It's pretty amazing how well these hang on even the tiniest of ledges while supporting me or my gear!

I climb cell phone towers and hang off the pipes with this thing and the climbing ladder. Great for that extra needed help to climb or hang from.

With this hook I have been able to catch some of the biggest rocks, and I'm not even very experienced. I don't even use bait, but the rocks still cling onto it and won't let it go. Really a great hook, in my opinion ...

I tried to climb a very simple ledge; it had about an inch and a quarter of grasp width, and this tiny hook with only a one inch span could not even get a grip on it. I almost fell a couple of times before I grabbed a nearby stick and shoved it between the hook and the rope to twist it and use the stick as the grapple. I would never ever use this again, and consider it unsafe.***Update, I tried this one more time and ended up falling 8 feet to the ground and getting badly hurt. And it's not because of my climbing skills.
