I got this for a DIY trike I'm currently in the process of building...er, re-building, more specifically. The bike originally had a single-speed cog, but I'm getting a 5/8" shaft cassette adapter and I'm putting a 9 speed speed cassette on. This 12 speed derailleur will easily handle the needs of my 9 speed cassette, while giving me room to expand a few gears if I wind up thinking 9 just wasn't enough.I needed the "direct mount", as well, because I'll literally have to fabricate a derailleur hanger for this because the bike has none, lol. So seeing as the mounting system is just a threaded hole I have to screw this into, all I have to do is make sure my threaded hole is where it needs to be. Simple, if you're used to a little fab work. It's amazing what you can do with a mig welder, some scrap metal, some vice grips and some magnets.I'm very happy with this derailleur. It has plenty of gear range, and is beautifully crafted. I may eventually put ceramic wheels on it, but that's another story. An excellent overall buy. 5 stars.

Identical is nearly every way to the OEM version. Most items were perfect with the exception of the top pulley which was not spinning perfectly and just replaced it with a different one that spun better.
