If your children like mermaids and Barbie, this is it. My daughter loves this particular model. I don't have a lot of experience with Barbie, but this is the first model I have seen with moving parts. On the back of the Barbie is a manual slide style switch that when used, deploys faux flowers from the Barbie's shoulder, waist, and tail fin. I thought it was a neat feature and so does my daughter. The switches' location leaves a bit to be desired as the Barbie's hair will get caught and ripped in the slide.At any rate, well worth it if you child likes mermaids.

I got this for my daughter who collects dolls. She is a teenager now, but still has a large doll collection and adores unique ones. I saw this Barbie and knew she would love it!This Barbie is super cool! She has a slider on her back that you slide up or down to make the flowers in the front of her bloom or disappear. When they disappear, they are completely gone. It's so cool! Usually these types of things wouldn't fully be removed and you would still be able to see them a little bit. But in this case they aren't visible in the slightest.Also, I love the mermaid tail - what girl doesn't think mermaids are awesome?! The mermaid tail is not removable, it's essentially her legs. I know when my kids were little this would have immediately gone into the bath with them to swim around haha. I'm sure this doll would be fine in water, the flowers are made of a plastic-y material that should hold up well.Overall, this is a beautiful doll - love the pink streaks in her hair too! The concept for the flowers blooming was executed perfectly. It's easy to move the slider, so little hands will have no issues operating it. We are very happy with her!

This is a pretty, classic barbie with ombre tail and polyester flowers. At first glance she's really pretty. I didn't realize when buying her, that her body has very little articulation at the waist or in the tail. This is to make the flower bloom possible, but I would have preferred if the flower element was just at the top of her torso and she was still able to bend at the waist. My daughter will still probably enjoy her as a bath tub barbie, but something to keep in mind if your child likes to do more posing/arranging with their dolls.Another note, and this is the collector in me, is this Barbie has the pixelated face paint that I don't really like and gives kind of a weird noise effect to the mouth especially, but is also pretty visible on the eyebrows. I don't know how much a little kid is going to notice but it's definitely a step down in terms of quality from the older Barbies and I don't know why Mattel decided to start doing this.

This review is for Barbie Mermaid Toy Dolls with Surprise Magic Blooming Flowers Feature, Ombre Tails, Pearl Headband Accessory & Long Blonde Hair with Pink Highlights. Package says: Flower Magic Mermaid(TM), warning: choking hazard – small parts, not for children under 3 years; flowers bloom, colors and decorations may vary; dolls cannot stand or swim alone, water toys sometimes get messy, protect play surfaces before use; drain, rinse, clean and dry all items thoroughly before storing; CE, conforms to ASTM F963, made in China, patent pending. This doll is the typical long blond haired, blue eyed, tall skinny Barbie but who is a mermaid, so her lower half is a tail with scales (no legs), and she has bright pink streaks in her hair. The Barbie's mermaid garb is in princess-ish purple and blue ombre colors with pink accents. Flowers are attached to the doll; they tuck under a ruffle or fin then are revealed by sliding a back flower lever. A fun doll for kids to play with in the water. Not sure how she may hold up to pool chlorine or ocean water if used in those locales (package says to rinse before storing).
