I've built all kinds of models before, but these snap pokemon ones are definitely some of the easiest to put together, and still look fantastic once finished! I've really been impressed by the amount of detail that is pre-molded into the plastic, like Mew's eyebrows and toes. The very sparing use of different coloured pieces and stickers (and I know how much lego-users at the very least hate stickers!) mean there is quite a pop to those details. You really need to follow the instructions, as pieces are not always placed sequentially on the boards, and definitely do not take the pieces off the boards until it's time to use that specific one as the pieces themselves are not numbered, only their place on the boards. It's not a bad idea just to have a very simple file on-hand while putting things together, but honestly, most of the pieces snap off the board without leaving any burrs or extra bits. They snap together very easily, and can also be taken apart if you missed something, as I show in one picture -- I can easily take Mew's foot off, but once put back on (which is very easy to do and doesn't require much pressure at all) I can carry Mew around by that foot, swing him, shake him, and the foot stays on!These are really great models to have if much smaller kids want to see (which means touch), as anything they take apart will likely not be broken off, but they stand up to attempts at gentle, if lacking in fine motor control, exploration.I've used a tiny, tiny amount of Gorilla glue on a couple of these models, but only to further close up any seams between pieces. It also keeps the model positions set (there is a fair bit of room for movement and customization), and because on this specific model I did have one of Mew's paw pads pop out after a cat knocked them off the shelf. I'm still looking for it, but a sticker cut to size would cover it too.The models are extremely lightweight once built which means they have a lot of options for display (hanging from fishing line! Used as lamp finials! Attached to the underside of shelves with a tiny bit of 3M tape!), and the easier models like Mew and Eevee can be done quite quickly. This likely took me about 45min while watching a movie and trying to be as seamless as possible, but an 8-year-old could likely finish one in half the time if they had soneone to help explain the instructions the first time around. Sleeping Eevee only took me about 20 minutes. Gyrados, a bigger and advanced model, took me about 2 hours but again, I was watching a movie. The final results are models that kids (and adults!) can be proud of building, but don't need all the tools and specialization that say, Gundam models or anything that needed contact cement (and painting). You kill fewer brain cells, too! Up-close you can see some of, but not all of, the seams because of how cleverly parts are put together. They definitely stand up to creative play, as my nieces and nephew have tested.I'm always looking for more of these, IRL and on Amazon! I highly recommend them for yourself if you haven't built a model since train and plane days (no decals! NO DECALS!) as something to stretch out thst part of your brain again, if you're a Pokemon fan looking for a neat and inexpensive way to craft some fun figures, or as a gift for kids 8+ who are into video games and Pokemon. My dad helped me put the Starship Enterprise together as a model when I was a kid. It was tough and often frustrating, although the final result was great. More, I can look back at that time and understand how precious his was, and that he chose to spend it with me to share a hobby he'd had as a kid (model airplanes) -- and he let me pick the model, which was a really big deal to me. I didn't get that kind of one-on-one time very often, so it's a really good memory. I've gotten to share something like it with my nieces as we've built a few of these together, although it's been much less frustrating -- but it is still getting to spend time with them, and that means the world to me.Mew is an easy little project you could start on with no experience and complete in one session. The instructions explain all, and if you get stuck people have even made Youtube videos to help you out!
