When I was a kid, I took ballet classes for years. I stopped taking classes when I got older because I was an average dancer and felt no pull to go any farther.Now that I’m older, and with several medical conditions, I decided to start simple ballet exercises to try and help keep my strength up and to attempt to stretch achy muscles and joints.About two wild later, this came across on the Vine program, and I immediately ordered it. The adjustable bar reminds me of the one in my childhood dance studio (younger dancers tend to be shorter than the pointe dancers, lol), but works well for me on days I’m not able to stretch the free inches higher.We installed a 2x4 along the wall and bought our own heavier duty bolts and screws to hang up the bar, as it is, it isn’t spaced to where you’re going to hit only studs.

We installed this for our saughter who is a dancer to practice at ho.e and also for me to stretch. It is large enough to use comfortably and as durable as an barre in a dance studio. Highly recommend for an current or former dancers wanting to practice or really for anyone that would like to get a barre style workout/stretch in.

This is a quality unit. The wood is extremely nice, smooth, tight-grained and strong. The hardware is sturdy and quite up to the task, and the height adjustability is what really sets this apart. It's very nice looking as well.Note that the brackets are a set, 28 inches apart so that they will not match up with wall studs. If you are planning to install this in a wood/drywall/plaster & lath wall, you will need to build some auxiliary support so that this is effectively attached to studs. I bolted a 1 x 4 board to our wall, into the studs and then mounted this bar onto that and through the drywall behind it with the strongest, largest molly bolts I could find. This way, it is enduring the un-balletic yanking it sometimes gets.

I haven’t done ballet in years, but when I saw this ballet barre, I got inspired again! I’m probably not going to get into ballet again at my age, but I can certainly use the barre to practice the positions and hold onto it for all kinds of stretching exercises. There’s nothing quite like stretching when you have a barre to hold onto and really lean into it or lean away from it or even lift your leg up onto the barre to stretch over it. There are lots of YouTube videos about stretches and exercises you can do on a ballet barre and it really makes exercise fun!This is the type of ballet barre that you install by bolting it onto the wall. Make sure to bolt it into the wall studs wherever possible for the best stability (or securely glue and nail a 2x4 across the wall and attach the barre to that). The barre itself is a smoothly polished wood with a traditional barre look and feel. The mounts are strong metal. There is a pin-and-hole system on the mounts to adjust the barre up to 5 different heights/closeness to the wall which makes it more versatile. An excellent product!
