After drawing on a rather high board without a proper light, I was delighted to receive this one, but for the price I wasn't expecting much. Was pleasently surprised at the amazing quality of this lamp. The base has so much weight in it, that the lamp will tilt quite far forward before the base starts to tip. The highly durable springs are in rather deep groves on the posts so they don't come off when the lamp is adjusted. There are wing nuts that tighten to hold the lamp in place at the elbow and neck joints. The high quality of the metal the lamp is made out of is light and very sturdy. The desk clamp is rather sturdy, and even has four holes in it that could be used as screw holes if used on a desk that can be screwed into. I used the base for my needs as I am using a dining table with a plastic cloth.My drawing board is 75cms tall and easily reaches over it.It does not come with a bulb, but I have used an E14 Edison Screw bulb with an E14 to E27 adaptor as the smaller length E14 bulb has meant that it fits inside the rather nice shade without sticking out, and gives out huge amounts of light for a full spectrum daylight energy saving 11 watt bulb. Most of the E27Energy Saving Full Spectrum Daylight bulbs were so large they protruded out of the front of the shade, looking a little unsightly!Bulb purchased from Amazon :Adaptor purchased from Amazon :I used a Full Spectrum Bulb as they are good for SAD sufferers, trick the brain into thinking it's still daylight so I stay awake, and they produce huge amounts more light than a 'soft glow' or 'cool glow' light that most bulbs are. Cost a bit more, but considering the huge lifespan they have, well worth it when working so closely with one. The lamp's shade doesn't overheat using one from prolonged use as I have had it on for about three hours now since getting it.The lamp does come with a three year guarantee. Not sure how much its worth, as it does say for the three years you have to refer to your supplier if anything does go wrong with it. There are no addresses on the guarantee card that I can see for the manufacturer's contact information, so if your supplier disappears, your guarantee probably would disappear with them. However, judging by the sturdiness of this lamp, I'm sure it will survive if treated with care and respect.Out of the box it was in a few seperate bits with an instruction sheet on how to put it together which was fairly simple. No tools required other than fingers as the screws were all finger screws. I had to twist on the metal shade to the holder, put the stem of the arm into the base. The arm was folded in two when I got it. If I wanted to use the clamp had to sort that out too but it was fairly simple.In conclusion, high quality, sturdy lamp, really high reaching arm, strong springs, and choice of heavy base or desk clamp at an excellently low price for its quality.Pictures; Stood as tall as it will go, lamp head facing, tilted over as far as it will go before the base tilts, lamp over my drawing board, two views of the desk clamp.

I bought this lamp as part of a technical project I am working on, not prepared to spend over £100 on an Anglepoise.Admittedly, I have not used this enough to say I've put it through its paces. However, my rating and review is for the moment and will be updated accordingly.For the price, I think you'll be hard pushed to find anything as good. It is big and has a good reach, I don't need the base but it works well and a nice bonus. The plastic table mount is useful and offers a multiple mounting position although I would have preferred this in steel.As some other reviewers, I noticed the plastic spring bosses (lugs) and immediately wondered whether they'd be an issue as all the force will be on them. I have not had any issues thus far but if there's going to be an issue it will be there.I looked at the Ikea equivalent but cost and travel time makes this better value. Argos had a small lamp on sale but didn't touch the quality and size of this.Verdict: Great looks and function. Time will tell with the spring bosses, I would have happily paid a bit more for those in some form of metal and a painted steel table mount/bracket rather than plastic.

A classic design, which is perfectly balanced for optimal use. The traditional look and feel of this lamp is matched by it practical application. I use my lamp when building and painting my model kits. The lamp is perfect for this function. Once placed into position, the lamp stays in place and the multiple position capabilities help to get the best possible lighting angle.

Der grundsätzliche Gedanke solcher Lampen ist ja gut. Ein Griff und man kann die Lampe in jede Position ziehen und sie bleibt da stehen. Das funktioniert hier leider nicht. Die Lampe hat in allen Gelenken Spiel und wackelt daher beängstigend stark. Am schlimmsten ist die Verbindung zum Fuß. An der Lampe ist ein Ring aus Blech, der in den Fuß eingesetzt wird, Spiel mindestens 2mm. Darauf das sich das Blech verbiegt kann man sich, meiner Meinung nach, sicher verlassen. Ich würde für diese Lampe nicht mehr als 10 € zahlen wollen.

Great lamp, but the lamp head doesn't always hold firmly in place and hasn't got scope to sufficiently tighten it up. Could do with a rubber washer or something similar.

Ich habe die Lampe verbilligt als Versandrückläufer gekauft. Aus den angegebenen Schönheitsfehlern wurde eine ausgebrochene Sockelhalterung. Als Standleuchte ich die Lampe nicht zu gebrauchen, weild der Fuß keinen Halt mehr hat. Die Beschreibung der Lampe war also falsch.

Looks like a good lamp but the quality is very POOR. I dont usually leave reviews, but this time I have the impression that the product is sold as a good quality architect lamp, when in reality it's only a pale imitation.the plastic knobs don't hold the lamp in place. They are not strong enough. I can't actually choose the angle I want. the head of the lamp keeps falling. The emplacement for the bulb is also very poor quality. I am very disappointed by this lamp. Buy it if you want something that looks good on your desk. If you need, like me, to use it, forget it.
