I used this to help clean some electronics I repairing and it worked quite well. It didn't pick up large debris as effortless but it certain help clean areas hard to reach with tweezer and cotton swabs. I didnt try with camera lens but I am sure it can work just that an air blower would be more efficient.

For those hard to get to pieces of dust on camera sensors this is a wonderful product.These little swabs are typically used in large chip fabs (like Intel, etc) to remove particles during the lithography process of making computer chips. If a silicone wafer has a defect it gets kicked out and a technician uses these swaps to remove the dust. This prevents an entire chip from becoming defective between the different stages of the lithography process.So why is this important? When working in lithography, tools have to be created that do not leave behind residue and will not leave any kind of a scratch on the silicone wafer, otherwise it jeapordizes destroying one (or multiple) computer chips. You are probably most familiar with a computer processor which has a metal plate on top, and a ton of pins underneath it. If you remove the metal plate, what you would see is a very colorful piece of electronics which looks almost identical to your camera sensor. In fact, your camera sensor is made on a large wafer with the same lithography processes as making an Intel or AMD computer processor. In addition, the amount of camera sensors that can be placed on a wafer directly correlates to cost, this is why full frame cameras are so much more expensive than crop sensors and phone sensors.So here comes the swab, it's SOLE purpose is to remove dust and debri from extremely senstive surfaces without damaging the chip.To use the swab, you take the stick and you gently roll the stick between your fingers and you roll the swab over the dust particle on your camera sensor. Once you do so, you can repeat this process another time or two (don't use the side that picked up the previous dust particle). Roll the tip of the swab slowly over the particle you need to remove.I've used three kits of these already as I am a glutton for punishment and take lightning photos during dust storms in Arizona. I have not had any issues or damage caused by these swabs on my $6500 camera.It's very important to note, that you do not dab or apply pressure to the tip, or you will transfer the sticky material to the sensor. Which is why one must use the roll method. If this happens. Throw away the stick, grab another swab and roll over the sticky material on the sensor and it will come right up.

This review is for ESD Professional Stainless Steel Gel Swab Sticks for Cleaning Camera Lenses, sensors, PCB, SMT, semiconductors and Particularly Sensitive Electronics. (Red-10Packs, High Viscosity)These are stainless sticks with one end coated with a tacky gel that are used to surface debris from various types of optical instruments. The gel i does not leave a residue if used properly. The stainless rods aid in removal by allowing some pressure to be placed on the contaminated surface while rolling the tip over the debris to pick it up off the surface.It is very important that a rolling and not a wiping motion be used to avoid scratching the surface. Initially, I had some trouble mastering the technique, especially when working through a narrow opening. With practice, I was able to clean a very dirty mirror and the eyepieces in an old microscope, making it much easier to use with greatly improved image clarity. The rods are meant to be used straight to allow the desired rolling motion. This does limit where you can get them into.They can be cleaned by using sticky paper or by washing and reused a number of times, until they lose their tack or a large piece of debris gets deeply embedded in the head. As others have said, these should be used to get the particles off that won't come off by gentle use of air or compressed gas, like at the mounting points of a lens or mirror.These are a great tool for restoring dirty optics to working condition. Will be ordering more when we consume the 10 pieces.
