The tape is perfect for use on the surface that you want to touch with your feet or hands. It is soft than the other tapes and on the other hand it is safe.

I have front porch with mahogany decking, painted with oil based porch floor paint. That gets slippery when wet, so I use this non stick tape for safety on the steps and on the path to the front door. I strip off the old 3M tape and then clean the adhesive residue before I repaint, that is tedious because it sticks very well and lasts about as long as the paint job. Porch is 20 years old and on its 3rd paint job and 3rd set of 3M strips. Main hazard to full life is catching the tape with snow shovel often enough that it gets tattered and lifts. It is a nicer surface than the grit topped tape that 3M also makes, and also I think that using tape is nicer than putting pumice additive into the paint.It is a little hard to apply the tape straight if you start by adhering one end and peeling the backing off as you move from one end to the other. My new method to apply was to cut a 2 x 4 2" shorter than the width of strip desired for stair tread and then staple the new strip on the 2x4 around the two ends and then peel off the entire backing. It is easy to position the 2x4 centered (via center mark on stair tread and mark on board) and centered by eye in the middle of the decking board, then lower gently to the deck. If satisfied with position then you lean on and then pry off staples and drop the two 1" ends to the deck, then use roller for full adhesion. A cheap wallpaper roller works okay. I bought a heavier roller which seems to work a bit better.
