I decided to switch out to a SPD pedal after using a mountain bike cleat for years. I mainly ride on concrete trails so I the SPD pedals are a good fit. The pedals were easy to screw on and are tightened up from the inside of the bike pedal. They are lightweight and they clip in seamlessly for a solid fit on the pedals. They take a bit more effort to align the pedal but once in are much more secure and better fitting than my mountain bike cleats. Work great!!!

As a road cyclist, efficiency is paramount towards performance and endurance. Thus our training, and our equipment weight, and low parasitic losses. I've transitioned to SPD-SL recently with new pair of Shimano road shoes, and used to ride LOOK cleats for years. So, I was drawn to these BOLANY pedals, they are lightweight and look decent. When they arrived, you get a full set of cleats and hardware to mount them. And the pedals look well built. They are indeed lightweight which is great!BUT I detected an excessive amount of rotational drag when I spun the pedal. It doesn't appear to be from being too tight in tolerance, but from the design of using thick viscous grease and a bushing in substitute for a 2nd cartridge bearing. The description shows a "DU" bushing/bearing at one end. And a cartridge bearing at the far end. I suspect this is why these pedals spun so poorly. Perhaps one can dismantle these to regrease them with lighter weight grease, like Park Grease. I don't know. I'm speculating like a typical road biker trying to optimize his/her ride.In hindsight, I'd opt for a better designed, more efficient pedal set. None of my older LOOK and Shimano clipless pedals spin so draggy. I wouldn't use these for any competitive riding.

Structurally:Structurally, these pedals are almost an exact copy of older 105 level pedals. These pedals accept SPD-SL cleats perfectly, and the included SPD-SL style cleats work just fine. The bearings that are included, are of decent quality. The axle is very good quality. The pedal platform is rock solid, as is the clip-in retention system.Grease:Straight out of the box, both pedals had a very thin layer grease that was far, far too thick. Yes, pedals, and grease break-in over time, but these pedals were so stiff out of the box, they wouldn't even fall into clip-in position. As a result of the above, I completely took apart both pedals, removed the included grease, and replaced that grease with standard SPD-SL pedal grease; after doing so, the pedals fall into clip-in position just fine.Bottom line:I would strongly suggest replacing the stock grease with standard SPD-SL grease. However, other than the issue with the grease used in these pedals, they're a very good budget option if you prefer SPD-SL pedals.4 stars

I'm planning a new purchase of a touring bike, and decent bikes don't come with pedals. I ordered these because they are compatible with my cycling shoes and they are relatively lightweight. Even if these were not compatible with my current clips, these pedals come with clips to install on my shoes. My touring bike will be a steel framed machine with front and rear racks, so I'm not going to worry about every gram of mass. The pedals I currently use on my carbon bike have clips on one side and are flat on the other side for riding without clips, but I almost never use that flat side (I thought I might), so these seem more practical with less wasted weight.

i have these, and a set of 2 hole spd pedals, these are half the weight, may not be as durable as mtb pedals but definitely light on the feet, other than that they are your standard clipless
