I was expecting this to look like the pictures, dazzling light displays, a rainbow of colors. Yes, it does refract light and make colors, but not like in the pics. It’s not that cool.

Beautifully boxed and protected little cube. When placed in the correct lighting it refracts light beautifully, creating a rainbow of colors. When not quite at the right light or position, it is still a lovely cube that brings on a smile.

I gave this to my son for his 4th birthday. He's had it for over 2 months now and still likes to carry it around and show it to people. It is both educational and beautiful.The crystal is very clear and when you shine a flashlight (or sunlight) through it on one of the correct sides, it beams colored spectrum light onto the surrounding walls/room. The crystal has 2 crisscrossing planes inside of it that form a 3-dimensional X within the cube. These provide the refracting capabilities and also why you have to shine the light in the correct direction through the crystal for it to show the spectrum.Overall, a neat gift to give to a child which can also be used to educate them on the light spectrum.
