Having had a short hickory handled pickaroon for many years I thought I would buy a longer handled one to save my back, what a disappointment. the head is totally the wrong shape and too light in weight and with the plastic/ rubber handle it acts as a shock absorber reducing the stabbing power completely, it even bounces off of the softest pine logs.

Not heavy enough to have momentum enough stick into log enough to pick it up doesn’t really serve the purpose

The product works though there are occasions when the tip does penetrate the wood, whether with or without bark. You just have to mindful of it coming free. But once embedded it makes moving logs a lot easier
