This saw cuts through wood (sleepers and fence posts) excellently. I was a little dubious when I ordered it for my husband but he is very impressed and says he will always use this brand in future. Be careful as it's extremely sharp and my husband has a few minor cuts which happened when he was putting it back in to the cardboard sheath. Ths extra cost over and above a standard hand saw is made up for over and over again in the time and elbow grease it saves!

I used this saw to cut dead almond trees, and in this particular case it was faster than a friend using a chain saw on similar trees. Admittedly his chain was very worn, but never the less I was impressed with the performance of this saw on dead hardwood, which can be 'as hard as iron'. After sawing 20 trunks of around 20cm diameter and cutting all those trees into logs, together with pruning the branches, a single Predator lasted well. It finally started to lose performance after all this,and run tight, especially when tackling the wide roots mass of the almond trees, having a complex twisted grain structure which is a tough job for a chain saw... but it also may have been me in part ;¬) I have now purchased two further Predators to keep us going next season. On soft wood a saw like this would last for x2 or x3 the cuts. In short this is the best hand saw I have ever used, both in terms of new performance and longevity.
