Im direkten Vergleich stehen hier der "iFi Audio Zen Air Phono", der "Fosi Audio BOX X2" und der "Art Pro Audio DJPRE II". Angeschlossen an einen Magnat TT990 und einem Yamaha RX-A2070. Der Yammi hat ja von Haus aus schon einen recht passablen Vorverstärker eingebaut bekommen. Es geht aber auch besser.1. Platz: iFi (macht viel Druck im Bassbereich und gibt viel Klarheit in den Höhen). Kurioserweise brummt der mit angeschlossenem Erdungskabel, hmmm. Ist das Kabel ab, brummt auch nichts mehr.2. Platz: Fosi (macht minimal weniger Druck im Bass wie der Fosi, spielt allerdings aufgrund der Röhren etwas wärmer. Dafür sind die Höhen sind nicht so prägnant ausgeprägt wie beim iFi)3. Platz: DJPRE II (eigentlich ungerecht, da er genauso gut aufspielt wie der Fosi. Für meine Ohren klingt er aber etwas zurückhaltener).Fazit: Schlecht ist keiner von den dreien. Da ich allerdings 2 Player besitze, behalte ich alle 3 Pre-Amps. Ich muss nur die passende Musik auf den richtigen Player legen.

I bought iFi ZEN Air Phono to replace Rega Fono Mini A2D. They are both high quality pre-amps from audiophile brands in budget friendly price bracket.I didn't find many comparisons online between them so I decided to write this review. Also there aren't many reviews on ZEN Phono Air. ZEN Phono model has more reviews which in general are favourable. Rega Fono Mini A2D has been What Hi-Fi? recommendation for years, that's what affected in my decision to get Rega few years ago.Sound profiles in these pre-amps are completely different. Rega sounds very warm and bass heavy, sound signature is more analogue. Bass sounds almost too boomy in certain records and makes rest of the details in music hard to hear. ZEN Air Phono is much brighter, clearer and detailed, more analytical. Bass is controlled, not overpowering. I assume this depends which you prefer and what is your setup. For my setup, B&O Beogram RX2 turntable and rebuilt MMC4 cartridge, Air Phono is much better.ZEN AIR Phono design is more modern and looks much better. It is bigger in size though. Rega is just plain metal box. ZEN is something you could leave for display as part of your setup, Rega is something you want to hide behind a cabinet. I found grounding cable hard to attach to Rega, you might need screwdriver in fact. In ZEN you just attach it back of the panel and use the knob to tighten it in place.Rega has USB connection if you want to transfer your records to digital format. I don't need this functionality but keep this in mind if you want to digitazise your collection.ZEN supports both MC and MM cartridges but I think this would be too budget option for anyone using moving coil cartridge. Nice feature still.ZEN also has subsonic filter which you can turn on or off. Filter is supposed to reduce noise caused by warped records. I found this feature to make sound more muffled when turned on. Might be good if you have really badly warped record and need to use it every now and then. By default I would suggest to turn it off.Purpose of this review isn't to say that Rega is by any means bad option to go for. In my opinion ZEN is just better sounding and also better value for money. ZEN is currently £90 in Amazon, Rega's RRP is £120.Hope this review helps someone to choose between these two pre-amps.

This phono preamp offers great sound for it's price. I use it together with an older turntable with an Audio Technica AT-VM95EN cartridge, a Little Dot II headphone amplifier and Sennheiser HD 600 headphones. I compared the sound of this preamp to a Rega Fono Mini A2D and the iFi sounds more detailed though perhaps a bit brighter.On the minus side, there's no power supply in the package and the included USB cable is quite short.Still, I am very satisfied my Zen Air Phono.

The Zen Air Phono preamp sounds very good as is, with any arbitrary 5V USB charger one may find around one’s home. But it sounds beyond excellent, and phenomenal for the price, when connected to a 5V USB power bank, like this one: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0869DMJH7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . The sound became immediately significantly better defined and clearer - a highly recommended combination for audio enthusiasts on a budget.What I do not like is that the in-box supplied power cable is short, two feet, maybe. That should just be long enough in some setups,, but not in general. If you decide to use a power bank in conjunction with the Zen Air Phono, then it introduces an additional cable, additional cable length, and there will like be no problem with the short cable.I am keeping my Little iFI, and warmly recommend it

I have both the Ifi Zen and Zen Air phono preamps to do a sound comparison. Looking at photos of the circuit boards they looked identical (except for the different inputs), so I was surprised to learn they have their own unique sonic signature. To my ear the Zen air is warmer, louder, a bit livelier, while the Zen Phono was a bit cooler and brighter. You can really notice on solo piano recordings (Dr. John for example). The thick midrange of the piano just jumped out of the speakers on the Zen Air, but was more restrained on the Zen Phono. Ultimately to my ear the Zen Air seemed a better compliment to my record collection.A note about power supplies: The Zen Phono Air only comes with a short USB power cord that you have to plug into a 5 volt wall wart. I found an alternative (link below) that was quieter and made the preamp sound better. A bit more punchy and more bass. Ich hatte bisher den NAD PP2 seit ca. 10 Jahren an meinen verschiedenen Plattenspielern mit MM-Systemen betrieben und war sehr zufrieden. Im Internet habe ich etwas über den IFI Audio Zen gelesen und dachte mir, bei dem Preis kannst Du mal was Neues ausprobieren. Ich war sehr überrascht, wie sehr sich die Qualität in 10 Jahren verbessert hat. Ich hatte mir schon überlegt, ein neues MM-System zu kaufen ( Ortofon 2M Bronze), das ist aber mit dem neuen Phonoverstaerker nicht mehr nötig.

gleich zum anfang es gibt ein großen minus punkt, dass eben das netzteil nicht im lieferumfang enthalten ist und somit extra gekauft werden muss.da durch ist der preisvotrtal gleich wieter weg.Sonst ist der Phono- Vorverstärker eine volle kaufempfehlung von Mir.Die klangbeschreibung kann ich zu 100%. posetiv bestetigen, das er ein wahres Klang- update ist und er bringt wirklich mehr dynamik & räumlichkeit rüber was für denn Preis unschlagbar ist.was ich so gelesen habe schlägt der Phono- Vorverstärker von IFi zugar teuere Gräte in punkt Klang & verarbeitung- Qulitet.
