I like to tinker. I purchased this motor 4 months ago and just got around to using it to make an automatic live insect feeder. I just finished test running the 3D printed turntable for 24 hours and it is working better than my expectations.

I've used several of these for various projects. They are a nice sturdy little gear motor, available in a wide range of reductions. This 35RPM version gives a LOT of torque at 12V. Easy to mount. Can run forward or reverse by changing polarity of the supply. Because it's a worm gear motor, it locks in place when not powered, so useful for anything where you want it to hold its position when idle. Will buy again when I need more.

For years I've been hunting for a really slow-turning motor for turning a disco ball at off-grid parties (IKR?!), ideally battery-powered.Naturally, commercially available ones are easy to find - but they turn at 5rpm, which is enough to induce audience vertigo! I've even tried using low-voltage PWM units to 'dial down' the speed, but around 2 to 1.5 rpm the pulses seem to be too spaced apart to run such a motor at its rated voltage (4.5-5.0v).Finally, I took a punt on one of these.Happy days!Sure, there's a little noise from the reduction gear - but now the points of light reflected off a mirror ball revolve as steadily as the sweep-second hand of a Rolex.Best of all, it was a doddle to fabricate a little plywood case for it (see pic below) and connect a tiny 2800mAh powerbank, which will happily run it for many, many hours (I haven't tested its full capacity, but it's done easily 5hrs so far, turning a smallish mirror ball).I've no idea what other uses an excellent little DC motor like this has, but as you will have gathered I am more than happy to recommend it!

I have several of these along with the associated "flange" that can be slid onto the shaft. I use this combination as small rotating photo tables powered by a variable voltage DC power supply. The beauty of these motors is their high gear ratios make them operate stably at even a fraction of their rated 12 volts. Lower voltage makes them rotate substantially slower, so you essentially have a variable speed turn table. The only downside is the connection tabs are so fragile you have to retrofit a connector to the motor as your first order of business. Even at a lower voltage they only draw a fraction of an amp so you could probably get variable speed with just a rheostat.

Bought this little Greartisan 12v 25 RPM as well as a larger BringSmart 12 volt 16 RPM worm gear motor. I wanted to put a picture of them side by side so you could get an idea of what you're paying for. The little one was around $15 and the bigger one was around $30. That's of April 2021. I am planning to build an outdoor motorized 12-ft projection screen. I believe the Bringsmart will have enough torque for the project. I feel it is well worth the extra $15. It's easily twice the size and has wired leads as well as mounting holes on both the front and back. However if you're doing something smaller you might like the space that the Greartisan saves. The little one is roughly 3 in and the bigger one is roughly 4 and 1/2 in long. Will probably donate this little one to my son for an Arduino project or something like that. I'm forced to give it stars before I used it so I will give it five stars and then come back and adjust accordingly if necessary.
