These diabetic shoes are very protective. They have a velcro strap closure that makes it easy to adjust the fit to accommodate swelling over the course of the day. The shoe is extra wide and well padded. The thick rubber sole absorbs shocks and the interior is cushioned, from the insole to the tongue. The toes have lots of room and do not rub up against each other and the toe is reinforced, so that if you walk into something you don't feel the full impact of a stubbed toe. But the fit is snug, because we don't want the friction of the foot moving back and forth in the shoe.For a diabetic, comfort and preventing pressure on the foot are of primary importance. I am caregiver for my mother and she has a perrenial bunion on her left foot. When the skin opens up, it doesn't heal for months. She's 87 and in her condition gangrene is such a threat. I looked for a shoe that would protect her feet from corns, bunions and calluses that could lead to infection or problems.My mother does not like the clunky look and feel of the shoe. It is big and heavy, but she needs the stability that it gives her, because her balance is uncertain. The sole keeps her from slipping and the thickness and wideness keep her gait steadier.I do notice that her feet sweat more in these shoes. I put her in diabetic socks that wick away moisture when she's wearing these, because we don't want fungal infection from wet feet.

I like the ease of putting these on, the width, which is perfect for my foot, and the very squishy, comfy sole. However, I would advise going up 1/2 a size. Weirdly, I think the issue is that the front of the shoe curves too sharply. My big toe and second toe have a little bit of room in front of them, but my third (middle) toe hits the end of the shoe, making it rather uncomfortable to walk very far.

I purchased these wide width diabetic shoes for daily wear, and they have truly made a world of difference. As someone with diabetes and sensitive feet, finding shoes that offer both support and comfort has been a real challenge-until now. These shoes provide a roomy fit without being bulky, and the cushioning is exceptional. My feet feel supported all day long, with no pinching, rubbing, or pressure points. I especially appreciate the easy-on design and adjustable straps, which make them perfect for swollen feet. Highly recommend to anyone looking for quality, comfort, and peace of mind for their foot health!

I have extra wide feet (especially in the toe box), and a very high instep -- neither of these things are usually accommodated very well, even by shoes that claim to be for extra wide feet. These shoes do have good room in the toe box, and through the instep.For my needs, I do wish that the velcro straps could be adjusted more, though, because I don't have problems with foot swelling, so the back half of the shoes (especially the heels) are too roomy and loose. The velcro allows me to tighten the fit a bit, but not perfectly.

I am so happy with these shoes! I suffer from edema that causes my feet to swell a great deal. I have only been able to wear one pair of shoes, and not my sneakers.These FitVille Diabetic Shoes for Women Wide Width allow me to regain activities that do require a full coverage shoe. They are wide enough with lengthy straps that allow them to close over my feet. I feel part of the success of these shoes (at least for me) is the fact that they offer full coverage instead of cutting across the most swollen part of my foot.I ordered the plum color, which has a noticeably brown tone.
