Two of my offspring do not like to read. They don't hate reading, but they generally prefer to run around outside, work on jigsaw puzzles, play a card game, etc. A teacher suggested that I keep some books that might interest them facing outward on the bookshelf, just so that each time the children pass, they are gently reminded by the cover that there are some interesting stories be read. I'm not sure that this will work to pique their interest but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try.These book stands seem to do the trick of holding the books (not yet for getting my kids to become avid readers). As other reviewers have noted, they are small, but they function just fine for the centre of gravity for most of the books I've tried. They are well-priced.And please ignore the reviewers who complained that they are not translucent. They are! But you will have to remove a protective white film from both front and back of the plastic (please see photos). I removed both films from one of the book stands and decided that I actually prefer the way they look with their protective films and so will -- at least for now -- not remove the plastic film from the other 4 stands.They arrived in a box that was cheerily decorated with a Merry Christmas sticker. I appreciated the jolly sentiment but it's late January so that was unexpected.Made in China.

These are simple, sturdy and effective acrylic stands. Suitable for A4 signage and paperback children’s books, or even for holding a phone, but wouldn’t be good for anything heavier. They’re currently being used to display books in a pre-teens room to try and encourage a greater love of books and reading. The stands are perfectly adequate in terms of manufacture, and come with a white protective film on to prevent scratches. We peeled one off for reviewing purposes, but have ultimately left the film on the others. The one we peeled was clear and without scratches or other imperfections. All in all, at the current price of £11.99, these are good value and you get exactly what you’d expect.

The Acrylic Book Stand Clear Stand is a fantastic addition to my reading nook. Not only does it look fine and sleek on my bookshelf, but the matte texture and color prevent unsightly fingerprints and dirt from spoiling its appearance. It's a simple design that just gets the job done. I love how it holds my books securely and allows me to display them beautifully.
