I got this for a particularly stubborn blockage and the plunger type unblocked just wasn't looking at it. A couple of pops with this and it was sorted. Just make sure to use the cover that comes with it, because if you don't have it on and you don't have a perfect seal and the blockage doesn't clear, the air that gets pumped down the u bend has to go somewhere and it's bringing some of the blockage along for the ride. Can't see any reason why it wouldn't last for years and years in a domestic setting. Lots of attachem5for different sized pipes etc. Well worth the money.

As others have said, you definitely need the polythene splash guard in place otherwise you end up with the toilet contents all over the room. That's where the problem lies, it doesn't make a good seal into the u bend so a large proportion of water just blows back. In my case the blockage was in the soil pipe and with the backed up water the path of least resistance was for the air to come back rather that move the blockage.

I tried 3 different products to unblock my toilet but only this one managed it. It's great and as a bonus it can also be used to exterminate insects haha

It comes with a toilet cover for a reason. Definitely use it if you don't want a face full of poop water. So powerful it exploded the water everywhere without it. Won't make that mistake again in the future.
