I had ordered this and the one that I received was faulty. Bur they immediately responded to me and helped correct the situation. I would order again if needed to from them.

I ordered one of these devices and the hardware was not tightened sufficiently. In addition, the center receptacle of the female UHF connector was too small for the male center pin. I tried many male connectors and not would fit. I returned the defective unit and opted for a replacement instead of a refund. The second unit arrived with the hardware sufficiently tight. However the female connector has the same issue - too small to accept the male connector and the toroid was not glued to the case sufficiently. It had broken loose in shipment from the hot melt glue. supplier must have gotten a bad lot of female connectors!!

Be sure to pop the cover off and tighten all the hardware as they tend to slip if this isn't done before hand. I threw a random wire up in a tree worked numerous stations all over the country on 40 meter cw. I was using a KX2 at 10 watts. My wire loaded up on all bands with this little balun and the built in KX2 tuner. I f you are going to leave it outside it may be a good idea to seal it with silicone sealer. For the money, this is a great little balun. I don't recommend running more than 20 watts cw through it as it is constructed using a small torrid and thin gage wire. WA6MOW

Minor Correction (Not Service Affecting)This 1:9 Balun should be called a 1:9 UnUn as it does not covert from a Balanced to Unbalanced line, rather it is an 1 to 9 impedance matching transformer for an unbalance random wire to an unbalance feed line.Build Quality:The build quality is acceptable, but nothing special. You will also find that instead of the standard nine windings around the core there are only six. I do not know the core material and the core material may account for the need for only six windings. I made one modification to the UnUn by replacing the bolt and wingnut for the random wire connection to an eye bold and wingnut to give a location to mound the UnUn from (See Photos).Testing:I placed a 450 ohm load across the ground and antenna connectors and measured the SWR from 1 to 30 Mhz on a NanoVNA. There was a small segment around the 160 meter band that came in just above a 1.5:1 SWR, but every other band 80 - 10 meters was well under 1.2:1 SWR (See Photos).Recommendation:This UnUn worked great with my Xeigu G90 and I hope to deploy it at my next Parks on the Air activation. I would recommend this product for anyone who is not interested in building their own.73's,
